Feels Like Home

We believe good food does more than fill your stomach—it brings you to a certain place. For this reason, we decided to open Dapoer and serve authentic Indonesian islands cooking, using fresh and local ingredients. We wanted to introduce the Southern Tier of New York to its very first Beef Rendang, voted number one most delicious dish in the world, and Nasi Goreng, which voted at number two.

Dapoer, which means “kitchen” in old Indonesian, is ran and owned by husband and wife, Donny and Ally, along with our little helper, Zane. We were raised on home-cooked meals in Java, but as we started our own family, we realized those recipes were never passed down and, of course, measurements were always eye-balled. Each meal we intentionally cook now in hopes of drawing us a little closer to those memories.
